The latest film making waves with the press is Prince, a film that is being played in both Tamil and Hindi theater! The movie is trilingual, and has voice acting for Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu. Prince is an action film that promises to have audiences in awe from beginning to end. The actor who plays the main character is esteemed Vivek Oberoi, who is extremely confident of the success of this upcoming film. He states “Get ready for an edge-of-the-seat experience,” while discussing the movie in a promotion.

Prince is about an intelligent thief who is an absolute expert at his job.Vivek Oberoi also gives details on the thriller to press, stating “Prince wakes up to know that someone has stolen his memory. He has to find out who he is and why people are chasing him; he only has six days to live.” The movie is two hours long, and Oberoi is absolutely convinced that audiences will be spellbound for every minute of Prince. The charming thief woos three women in the film, hinting that the movie will also be highly amusing to viewers.

While memory loss is not necessarily a new concept in film making (in fact, the subject has been covered in over 80 films) Prince boasts to not be inspired by any of these movies, and is in fact a completely different experience than all of them.

For almost half of a year, Oberoi has worked his skills and physique into peak condition for Prince. Oberoi states that he loves action sequences, and from the moment that he read the script detailing the intense stunts, he decided he wanted to jump on the opportunity to work as his own stunt performer. In the movie he hangs eight thousand feet in the air and jumps from rooftop to rooftop on a motorbike. This movie bound to be Oberoi’s pride and joy, as he also states that it was the biggest challenge he has encountered thus far as an actor.

With a Chennai mother, Oberoi decided to dub the Tamil movie promos by himself. Unfortunately he is not entirely confident in his Tamil knowledge, so he was unable to dub the entire film. He is very enthusiastic to Tamil audiences, however, stating that he really wants to concentrate on bilingual and trilingual films that are showed in both Hindi and Tamil.

Oberoi warns audiences that Prince is a movie that can only be experienced to its fullest in theater. Resul Pookutty is an Academy Award winning sound engineer that specifically created stunning audio that could only be fully enjoyed through theater viewing. Oberoi stated to the public “You cannot enjoy Prince in pirated discs, or on the small screen. You must watch Prince in cinemas for a thrilling Hindi movie experience.”

Awaara is a film produced in 1951 for Hindi theater. The Hindi film is directed, produced, and performed by Raj Kapoor. Raj plays the lead male role, while he casts his father as the lead male role’s father. Awaara focuses on the lives of Raj (Raj Kapoor) and Rita (Nargis). Rita is privileged and wealthy, while Raj is a poor tramp.

Judge Raghunath is Raj’s wealthy father. Raghunath is a very ambitious and esteemed man of the court, and refuses to allow anything to taint his image. When his wife is kidnapped by robbers, she is found to be pregnant and is thrown from his house. While Raj, her unborn son was actually Judge Raghunath’s true son, the man is blinded by his fear that the son of a thief will become a thief regardless of proper parenting. Raj grows up without a father, in extreme poverty and desiring a father figure in his life. He suffers through school, but is overcome with the stress of having to keep a job as stay in school to care for himself. He meets a young girl named Rita, who soon becomes his best friend and confidant. Raj falls deeply in love with the beautiful girl, but fate separates them. Raj is kicked out of school for being unable to juggle both a job and an education, and he is separated from Rita. Alone and depressed, he often thinks of Rita and remembers how lovely she was, even as they spend so much time apart.

Raj, left without an education and little money for himself, turns to a life of crime as he steals to survive. Jagga, a criminal, acts as his father figure and the man that Raj looks up to. They band together and commit various crimes, Raj pleased with his ability to stay alive and have someone like Jagga to look after him. One desperate day they decide to rob a local bank. The pair, however, do not have a car in which to escape in, which poses a difficulty in their plan. Struck with a plan, Raj steals a purse from a woman exiting her car. He escapes her notice and hides, searching through her purse frantically for her keys. He cannot find them, however and is shocked and mortified by the fact that he has the purse and no keys to show for it. Raj elaborately acts as if he caught the thief and retrieved the purse for the robbed woman, only to find that the woman is Rita, the beautiful girl from his childhood. Raj later finds out a terrible secret on his father figure Jagga, and the aftermath pays a terrible toll on Raj.

The story is dramatic and compelling to the very end as the audience follows Raj through plot twist to plot twist. His life becomes an emotional rollercoaster that, while a little clichéd, is extremely entertaining for audiences everywhere. This Hindi movie is absolutely a must-watch.

Amrita Rao was born to Deepak Rao in Mumbai on the 7th of June, 1981. Her family was a fairly wealthy Saraswat Brahmin family. Even by the time she was 12 she was already well known for being a skilled dancer and performer. Her father owned an advertising agency and although she was exposed to a lot media through her father’s company, she initially did not wish to have a Bollywood career. Instead she aspired to graduate in psychology, something that she eventually did when enrolling at the Sophia college to study psychology.

During her time in Sophia College, she auditioned at an advertisement marketing Fariever Face Creame. Later she also became involved in advertisements for Bru Coffee and Cadbury’s Perk Karwa Chaut. It was these advertisements that brought her to the attention of a few of Bollywood directors, who sent a number of offers to her. She turned them down though, because she wanted to finish her education. It was only after she had received her degree in psychology did she start the profession of a Hindi actress, and since then, she has acted in many films and gained considerable fame in Bollywood and around the world. She can speak Hindi, English, Marathi, and Kokani, which is her mother tongue.

Hindi Actress Amrita Rao was already used to cameras by the time she started acting, as she had a fair amount of previous experience in modeling and other advertisements. One of her first hit movies was starring in Ishq Vishk (translated: Love Romance) directed by Ken Ghosh, the movie was a hit and immediately launched her film career. The story centers around two friends, Payal and Rajiv, who have known each other since childhood. Payal falls in love with Rajiv, but it takes him awhile to return before he realizes he feels the same way.

Other hit Hindi movies included ‘Masti’, a comedy about three friends who meet after they are all married and through a series of circumstances find themselves accused of murder. ‘Vivah’ was a drama/romance movie about a wealthy business manager who is destined to marry a traditional middle-class college student. Another hit film was ‘Main Hoon Na’, an action comedy about Ram Prasad Sharma and following his attempts to stop the villain terrorist Raghavan Datta, with many complications that result throughout the film. Other notable films that Amrita Rao has acted in are, Life Partner, Dance India Dance show, Victory, Shaurya, Welcome to Sajjanpur, Athidhi, and Heyy Babyy.

Once an odd job worker before turning to film and music videos and a career as a Bollywood “item girl” (“item” a Bollywood and other Indian film term for upbeat, usually sexually provocative dance sequences bearing little relevance to a film’s plot), Rakhi Sawant—who has claimed Bollywood legend Madhuri as her idol—has become a colourful and controversial film, music, television and cultural personality.

Hindi actress Sawant has been a Bollywood precence since her first film, 1999’s Dil Ka Sauda. She has been an item girl in at least seven Indian films to date. Her career since includes her 2008 accusation that TV network officials were guilty of bias after she lost the finals on Nach Baliye 3; and, she has earned a reputation for courting controversy almost constantly.

In 2009, the news hooked around Sawant top-rated reality-television series, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, the swayamvar referring to the traditional practise of a list of suitors from which a marriageable young woman would choose her husband. She chose Toronto businessman Elesh Parunjwala, who moved to Mubai to establish a film academy, but who postponed the wedding saying he needed more time to get to know his prospective bride. Sawant said she could not force him into the marriage.

Early in 2010, however, Sawant made headlines again when she threatened a bhookh hartaal (hunger strike, in Hindi) over India’s Censor Board refusing to allow her to use the word kameeni (rough translation: bastard, in the Hindi feminine) in her song Kameeni Tera Bhoot Chad Gaya Re, if her somewhat racy video for the song is shown on television.

Sawant’s objection was that the word—and no few rather more appalling deeds, such as young girls and women being raped or forced into underage marriage—is used liberally enough on Indian television serials by male characters, and that her using it in song should not be considered obscene. She also objects to the Censor Board barring her from singing the word in a music video while the word has been used in film titles without objection.

Also in early 2010,Hindi Actress Sawant has professed to be a devout, practising Christian who refuses to watch certain kinds of entertainment on Sundays. She has also said she would marry, if Parunjwala elected not to marry her at all, only by way of another swayamvar—an ancient Indian practise in which a marriageable young woman chooses from a list of suitors, usually but not exclusively initiated by her father. However, she has not confirmed whether she would put that search on television as well.

Hindi Movies in 2009

Last year was a destructive year for Hindi movies. Bollywood had a tough 2009. Some big time movies were supposed to be made but that did not pan out. This left audiences upset and movie theatre owners impatient and frustrated. It also did not help in that a recession was underway. This was not a perfect storm because the business is still solvent and in motion but it was several body blows.

Overall, about 138 films were bought to the market place. What started off 2009 in such a despicable shape was Chandni Chowk suffering at the box office despite its hype and amplified marketing pitch. The pretty bollywood actress Deepika Padukone in this film was not enough to entice moviegoers to lineup and purchase tickets for this movie.

Other duds of last year were Tasveer, Blue, London Dreams, Aladin, Luck, What’s Your Rashee, Main Aur Mrs Khanna, Kurban and Delhi-6. Some of these were supposed to big successes, others moderately popular, but it did not pan out for any of them. This could have been for any number of reasons.

The films that kept the Indian movie business in 2009 from facing a perfect storm were New York, Wanted, Love Aajkal, and Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani. The magnificent triumph for Bollywood was Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots which hit theatres at Christmas and which did rake in some wonderful earnings. Amitabh Bachchan did pretty well as a 13 year old teenager in the movie Paa finally broke even despite only proving itself in the metro cities.

Taran Adarsh is someone who studies trade stated that 2009 was the most pathetic year in Bollywood in the last twenty years or so. There was a divide between the producers of the films and the owners of the giant movie theatres. This was ugly enough to prevent any movies from being shown for 2 months, at least Indian movies. It also did not help that the movies that did make it to market were weak. This damaged the credibility of the entire industry. It was not always the fault of the movies themselves, the swine flu did not help at all.

Something that could help the Hindi Films industry is to confront and decrease the amount it costs to produce a film. This is from a prominent voice in the industry, Manmohan Shetty, who is the chief of the Film and Television Producters Guild of India (FTPGI).

3 Idiots tells the story of a 3-member gang Rancho, Raju, and Farhan, in college living in one of the leading engineering institutes in India. There is told that their education system that does not make the students as human beings, but a machine, a paradigm college, graduated with good grades, get a job, high salary, lived happily (familiar with our lives right?). Education system does not make the human spirit that seeks knowledge, but merely a degree alone.

In addition, the Hindi movie is told about an old man (sorry) old-fashioned, which was to understand how to make children happy with the way his son chose the way of life. Though not necessarily the chosen path is preferred by children.

Major factor that makes this movie is cool because many of inspiration there. Values were appointed as the film really is the values that I believe. Some of them were under (note: you must watch to truly live the values of this!)

Positive thinking in a variety of conditions will be very helpful. While positive thinking is not necessarily solve the problem, at least it will help us not prolong the problem. One thing that is always raised in 3 Idiots is his Rancho quotes: All is well (all fine). And it
Do not just pursue their own dreams, help others achieve their dreams. Rancho do it all, realize Raju to overcome fears in her life, and realize Farhan to follow her heart.
Follow your heart, do not pretend, do what you really like. If contrary to what our parents want? Speak well with them, show evidence if we are serious in that area. Indicate if an achievement that would ‘soften’ their hearts. All parents want their children certainly happy in the future. If they give way we do not like, convince them that the path we choose will make us happy. Farhan did that!
Never be afraid to face life. Eliminate fears unfounded that keeps us from growing. Afraid to face alone? Find a friend to fight alongside.
Mix with inspirational friends, who together-together will support each other in goodness. 3 Idiots is, each is inspired one another with each way.
Life is not for success. Success is just the effects, bonuses, from what we field. As a sort of movie: Pursue excellence, and success will follow, pants down.
Practice what you preach. Not only can speak or advise, do what you’ve discussed. Or better yet, speak through our actions. Rancho which was very positive and excited, so was challenged by Raju & Farhan to do what he likes to say, he immediately proved it!

Our first review is of Chak De! India
A Hindi movie that has Drama, Family Sports feature which has won 16 international awards, run time for this film is 153 minutes and is directed by Shimit Amin.

The sports drama featuring Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan as Kabir Khan, former captain of Indian hockey national team which was forced to resign due to the pathetic failure to make goals that India lost to Pakistan in the World Cup finals. Even he was suspected of deliberately yield to his rival teams gravitate toward Pakistan because of the similarity religion.

Not surprisingly, Kabir is considered a traitor by everyone including his own team. As a result Kabir and his mother a widow must be in hiding for 7 years before it finally came back to the surface when the Indian government formed a national team of women hockey to compete in the hockey world cup women. In obsession to redeem his failure in the past and also proved himself not a traitor, Kabir offer to become coach of Indian women hockey team.

Because no other candidates are willing to coach, Kabir bid was finally accepted. Many obstacles must be faced by Kabir in the women’s team coach, among others must deal with 16 players coming from countries of different parts of India and like to bring the spirit of regionalism as well as communication problems because of language differences. Not to mention the resistance of Indian sports officials who do not like the presence of the woman’s hockey team.

The style of training with hard discipline by Kabir makes the women team hated him. Especially one of team player, Bindia Naik who did not want to participate again in the team unless Kabir retreat from his position as coach regarding an alleged affair between Vidya Sharma and Kabir with the appointment as captain of the team. In the other hand, Vidya will soon be married to another man.
